Don't Represent Yourself
The biggest mistake an injury victim can make is to represent themselves against the insurance company. It does not matter how big or small the case or which insurance company you are dealing with. They are all basically the same. Insurance Companies have gotten so wealthy by maintaining one simple philosophy. Collect premiums and do not pay claims. When an insurance adjuster knows that you are going to handle the claim yourself, they handle the claim completely different than if you are represented by counsel.

Don't Hire a Big Law Firm
We realize it must be extremely confusing for a first time injury victim to decide what law firm to call. There are so many big law firms that advertise on television and in the telephone book that it can be overwhelming.

Don't be mislead into the thinking that these high profile firms are the best lawyers to handle your case. The problem with a big firm is that your case can get shuffled from lawyer to lawyer and even though you see one lawyer advertising for the firm, the odds of you getting that lawyer are very slim. You are more likely going to get a lawyer fresh out of law school.
